Coconut Milk Kefir


Coconut milk what?  Most North-Americans pronounce this whole food probiotic as 'kee-fur', 'keff-er' or 'kuh-feer', the latter of which is the Russian pronunciation.  Since it originated in the Northern Caucasus Mountain region of Russia dating back to at least 1884, we think they're probably right!  But, however you choose to pronounce it, you will discover a creamy fermented beverage that is high in active bacteria and beneficial yeast.

The word 'kefir' comes from the Turkish language and roughly translated means 'long life' or 'good life'! Kefir likely got it's name from the longevity of the of the people of this region, who were known to live long and healthy lives, with many centenarians among them. Kefir is still considered a staple food in Russia today.
